804 – Some Guy

A.Ron and Jim praise and rip this episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead, “Some Guy”.  We dug a lot of the high concept medieval horror going on, and if nothing else, Ezekiel is a particularly interesting personality to mine pathos out of in this worn out zombie apocalypse we’re stuck in.  AND YET WE SMILE!  Because those car chases were right out of 80’s action / comedy, Carol was kicking Savior butt and taking names, until the tragic and outrageous death of a beloved character.  Then, feedback!  See you next week…

The Deuce wrap up, Lady Dynamite Season Two

Jim and A.Ron discuss their thoughts on an incredible season one of HBO’s The Deuce, and get into a discussion about politics and society along the way, before A.Ron makes an earnest appeal to check out Netflix’s Lady Dynamite, the funniest, sharpest comedy about depression and mental illness you’ll likely ever see.

210 – Valar Morghulis

Jim and A.Ron finish our retrospective re-watch of season two of HBO’s Game of Thrones with the finale, “Valar Morghulis”.  It’s a typical GoT finale, in that it does a great job of setting up the next season as something you can barely wait to arrive.  Arya could start super assassin training!  The White Walkers are marching on the Night’s Watch!  Dany’s dragons can spit fire!  We talk about these topics and a ton of last minute feedback before signing off with some spoilers for season 2 as well as debating a few lingering season 7 stuff in the secluded SpoiLore section.  See you next year!

We’ve seen the latest from FX’s American Horror Story: Cult, “Charles (Manson) in Charge”, and it turns out that it’s all the women’s fault!  We should have known it the whole time!  A.Ron and Cecily try to figure out where Murphy is going as he crosses the double yellow and veers into oncoming traffic a final time before next week where maybe things will make sense!

305 – eps3.4_runtime-err0r.r00

Jim and A.Ron were blown away by the latest real time “oner” episode of USA Network’s Mr. Robot, “eps3.4_runtime-err0r.r00”.  We think the technique was employed skillfully here, increasing the drama, tension, and immediacy.  We’re also left with a lot of questions regarding the state of Stage 2, Angela’s relative hacking skills, the nature of Mr. Robot’s relationship with Elliot, and we’d love to know exactly what Darlene is up to, and how much of her plan the FBI has signed off on.  More answers surely to come, but this was a fun ride!

Murder on the Orient Express (2017)

A.Ron and Jim saw the most recent film adaptation of the Agatha Christie mystery classic, Murder on the Orient Express.  Directed and starring Kenneth Branagh, as well as a baker’s dozen other stars, is lush and lavish and maybe missing a few pieces it needs to be assembled into a fully functional whole?  It’s like an Ikea bookshelf with a few screws and dowel rods missing, is what we’re saying.  We discuss our general, non-spoiler thoughts before talking about upcoming films, before getting to our Club Member only spoiler section.  If you want to hear our full thoughts on this and many other first run Bald Movies, consider joining the Club today!
