514 – “Ozymandias” – Jim’s Instant Take Review

Last week in our podcast covering “To’Hajiilee”, I refused to judge the wisdom of ending the episode in the middle of what everyone expected to be a fatal gunfight for Hank, Gomie, Jesse, Walt or maybe just everyone.  After seeing this week’s episode – “Ozymandias” – I’m glad I held that judgement.

514 – “Ozymandias” – A.Ron’s “Instant Take” Review

Breaking Bad returned to form, once again proving that it’s worth grinding your gears a little to get to the “good stuff”.  In this case, the “good stuff” was really, really bad, awful in places, but it was some of the best damned television I’ve ever watched. What else can you say about an hour…

513 – To’hajiilee

Hello and welcome to the back half of the final season of Breaking Bad. This week we discuss “To’hajiilee”, where Jesse hits Walt where he really lives, out in the deep desert, with eight figures buried just under foot. Join Jim and A.Ron as they discuss Huell’s waffles, Saul’s fifty, Hank’s gambit, Walt’s surrender, Todd’s creep, snot-yellow meth, neo-nazi marksmanship, and Hank’s fleeting moment of triumph. The tables are turned this week and the mighty Heisenberg is finally captured… at least for a few seconds. Though not quite as twisty as last week’s timeline-slight-of-hand episode, I really appreciated the way the plot unfolded in To’Hajiilee.  Hank has a history of taking pictures of crime scenes on his shitty 90’s flip phone…

In the final analysis, Walt’s empire business has crumbled all because Huell, card carrying member of Saul’s “A-Team”, hasn’t heard Bald Move’s standing Public Service Announcement, “Don’t Ever Talk to Caps, Man, For Real.”  Walt tried to do Los Pollos Hermanos on the cheap, and from the start Vamanos Pest Control has plagued by problems…

While quite a few people got some of the broad strokes right, again, Vince Gilligan and crew made sure that we were all left guessing and trying to puzzle out where we were going until The End… and what an end it was. Jim and A.Ron struggle to put their thoughts into words as we deliver a instant take where we try to make sense of how we got here, what we thought of it, and where we’re left. Join us for our full coverage Tuesday night!

512 – Rabid Dog

This episode, 512 entitle “Rabid Dog” turned out to be a bit of a breather, especially compared with the previous 3 of this final season. Not a bad thing, or our hearts would explode before the end. Still lots and lots to talk about, including hitting Walt where he “really” lives, the sour turn Skyler, Marie, and Hank seemed to take this week, the continued heart break of poor Walt Jr, Aaron Paul and Dean Norris’s continued excellence, Babylon 5, Walt’s room clearing ability, and much more. All this, your awesome feedback and analysis, as well as a bit of spoiler discussion after the protective wall of music! Hope you enjoy!

512 – “Rabid Dog” – A.Ron’s “Instant Take” Review

Can Breaking Bad do an entire 8 episode final season with the pedal to the metal and end each one on a massive cliffhanger?  Well, yes and no.  Yes, they keep their cliffhanger streak alive with a shadow phone call to Team Panzer Grey, but this episode, while taught, well acted, and fascinating in it’s…

The trouble with setting up a season with the pace and skill that the final season of Breaking Bad  has been set with is that you can’t let off the throttle without taking some criticism.  That’s how I felt about 512 Rabid Dog.
