201 – The North Remembers

And now our (re)watch begins with “The North Remembers”, the season two premiere of HBO’s Game of Thrones series.  We’ll be working our way through the entire second season, the first half of the episode is entirely spoiler free for first time viewers, then we’ll have a mini-SpoiLore section after we play the end of pod theme music for people who are caught up on the books / show.  In this episode we’re appreciating Tyrion’s swagger, Sansa’s strength, Robb’s toughness, and Jon’s girlish good looks. We’ll have more every Tuesday over the next ten weeks, so settle in for a long trip down GoT memory lane!  See you next week!

Game of Thrones – Season 7 SpoiLore Wrap Up BONUS Episode!

In a bonus wrap up SpoiLore episode for Game of Thrones season 7, A.Ron is joined by Kim Renfro, Senior Culture Writer for INSIDER, to discuss our thoughts on season 7 as a whole, leaks, how production spoilers impacted our coverage of this season, and what we think about the far off season 8.  Be warned, at the very end of the episode we do dish a bit on the last remaining unconfirmed leak for this season, which may come up next time.  If you’re a serious spoiler-phobe, make sure you shut off the pod when we get to that point.  If you need more Kim in your life, check out her podcast series, Showrunners, or follow her on Twitter.  Our regular edition of SpoiLore will be out tomorrow!

707 – The Dragon and the Wolf

Jim and A.Ron develop their thoughts on the season finale of HBO’s Game of Thrones, “The Lion and the Wolf”.  Many were pleased, yet there are some lingering resentments.  We try to talk through why we thought Cersei’s scheming, Sansa and Arya’s collaboration, and the Night King’s ultimate plan to cross the wall made a lot of sense both from a plot and character standpoint, but we definitely leave room for people who have trouble looking past how we arrived there.  In the end, we both agree that the series is set for a thrilling and satisfying conclusion, and the DD’s have nearly twice the time to develop it.  Will they succeed?  Can Martin eventually do better? Join us next week as we wrap up our Season 7 coverage and try to answer these questions and more.  And don’t forget Friday, as we delve into the deeper meanings and book implications for the events of this season!  See you then.

707 – The Dragon and the Wolf – Instant Take

Jim and A.Ron declare that the finale of HBO’s Game of Thrones, “The Dragon and the Wolf”, did enough to, if not completely excuse the issues of the past few episodes, at least have us back to being fully excited and eager to see the story resume… probably  sometime in 2019.  That’s a long wait, and for as much grief we’ve given the Double D’s here and there, we’re really going to miss their show while it’s away.  But that’s just two guys opinions.  What did you think?  Tell us at the links below!  We’ll be back Tuesday for a full featured analysis and tons of feedback, then we’ll talk about how the finale impacts our understanding of book and show prophecies and predictions.  See you then!
