205 – Rebecca

Welcome to our coverage of Better Call Saul’s episode 205, “Rebecca”, in which we find some new revelations about Chuck and Jimmy’s past, as well as some very dangerous future entanglements for Mike. We come at the episode with two distinct POV’s; Jim is pro-Chuck, while I’m broadly anti-Chuck, and as a result, we have very different interpretations for a lot of the character conflicts in this episode. Which side do you come down on? Who is right, who is wrong, or are the answers going to be more shades of grey?

We’re nearing the home stretch. Just one episode left to cover after this, and then the season re-cap. But there is plenty of machinations left to unravel. Frank uses national security, the death of a mother-in-law, and the inexperience and ambition of his political rival for his own gain, aided and abetted by his right hand woman, Claire. Can frank defeat both political parties, a skilled and savvy reporter with a lot of axe to grind, as well as the terrorist organization ICO in just one more hour of television? We’ll find ou

613 – The Same Boat

It’s fair to say that neither Jim nor A.Ron was under or overwhelmed by this episode, number 613, “The Same Boat”. Thus properly whelmed, we discuss the themes of the episode, including Carol’s sudden (?) change of heart with regards to her ruthlessness and apparent callous disregard for life, Maggie’s maternal nature, how we feel about the Saviors now that we’ve seen a slightly softer side, and Carol and Maggie’s innovating combination of slaughterhouse and barbecue. All this, tons of feedback, and a healthy spoiler section at the very end of the episode await your listening pleasure.

10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)

Jim and A.Ron took in the psychological thriller “10 Cloverfield Lane”, and have a lot to say about the performances, the plot, and the trailers previewing movies we may or may not be interested in. The movie is directed by talented rookie Dan Trachtenberg, and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman, and John Gallagher Jr, and is being called the “spiritual successor” to the original J.J. Abrams joint, “Cloverfield”, whatever the hell that means. Everyone can enjoy the non-spoiler reviews, but you’ll have to be a Club Bald Move member to hear the full podcast. We’ll be back in two weeks for the potential blockbuster/turd “Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice”!

Origin Stories and Season 1

We’re nearly into the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil series so it’s time to fire up the gears of the podcast machine. Last October a generous fan paid us to talk about the origin stories of both Daredevil and Kingpin. We went a little overboard and just talked about the whole damned first season. To start up the new feed, we’re repackaging that podcast and releasing it here.

404, 405, 406 – Chapters 43-45

Jim and A.Ron are impressed with the strongest stretch of House of Cards in any a season. With events both shocking and eminently watchable, we praise the opportunism of Claire as she waylays the entire government apparatus as a sort of audition for her role in higher power. Will her daring gambit pay off, or will the Underwoods, and the United States of America, pay too high a price? Join us as we discuss and debate organ donation, the various schemes and power grabs, and analyze the potential treacheries and betrayals ahead.
