We move through Jimmy’s various legal wranglings, ponder his relationship with Chuck and the complex psychology at work, witness the beginning of the end of Jimmy and Kim’s relationship, and worry for the security of her career, if not her life. 1006 – My Struggle II

Our struggle was getting through the latest episode of the X-Files “My Struggle II” with our sanity intact. We consider it a historically bad episode of television, and a real disservice to long time X-Philes. The greatest and most reliable piece of the X-Files machinery was always the chemistry of Mulder and Scully as partners in co-investigators, and the bad parts were its confusing and poorly thought out mythology that never ended with cliffhanger after cliffhanger. It stands to reason then, that this “season’s” finale kept Mulder and Scully apart the entire time and ended with a massive cliffhanger after a brutally confusing and pointless plot. Boo, just boooooooo.

Not to mention a development we’ve been anticipating for about 3 years now. Yes, it was the elusive feel good episode of The Walking Dead, and we frankly gush about it. Join us for a discussion of soda pop, post-apocalyptic teenage angst, finding love in all the right places, and just tons and tons of Messianic puns. Plus, great feedback from the listeners, and a speculative spoiler section, safely tucked away behind our trademark wall of outro music.

Mr. Justin “Hatorian” K. won a Bald Move fantasy football league, and this was his reward; the selection of the modern classic war movie, “Saving Private Ryan”. Directed by Steven Spielberg, and starring every man in Hollywood (Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Vin Diesel, Bryan Cranston, NATHAN FILLION, Paul Giamatti, among others), it’s a pitiless look into the hell that is war. It is also moving, heroic, complex tale of brotherhood, bravery, cowardice, and loss. It’s a powerful film that you really must see before partaking of the podcast, but if you’ve already stormed the beaches of Normandy with Capt. Miller and company, please enjoy the podcast.

609 – No Way Out

February 15, 2016 Watching Dead - A Walking Dead Podcast

Last night’s The Walking Dead had a lot of moments of genuine tension and real stakes, but it also had a lot of continuity errors and puzzling directorial and editing choices. Which is too bad because it’s central gasp inducing moment was a real bomb. We discuss some potential future story angles featuring Michonne’s guilt and some fresh juice in the Morgan/Carol arc what with Denise’s new found appreciation for the malleable nature of Wolves and question how Carl will fit in to Rick’s New World Order, and how the mysterious Kneegan could possibly threaten it all. All this, some great feedback, and a thoughtful spoiler section, coming at you!

Deadpool (2016)

Jim and A.Ron saw the latest kinda-sorta-Marvel movie, “Deadpool”, and found it defied their expectations. Rather pleasantly so. What we were expecting is some kind of Dumpuary disaster, and what we got was a slick, action packed, very hard “R”, very funny send up of the super hero genre. If you like movies in the “Cranked” franchise, or the latest “Kingsmen” flick, you’ll be right at home.
