101 – The Long Bright Dark

We hope you’re as excited about the new season of True Detective as we are! One of our biggest 2014 regrets in podcasting was not being able to cover the first season, and this warm up series aims to rectify that, as we discuss every episode of season one leading up to the season two premiere on June 21st, 2015… With this being an anthology, it could be that very little of season one impacts subsequent seasons, but if you need help getting back into the True Detective mindset, we’re here to help.

In this episode, we experiment with a different podcast format, aiming for a less recappy, more conversational feel. We discuss our relationship with the show, Marty and Rust’s partnership, and the shows themes and religious imagery. Don’t miss our final segment, “Smelling the Pyschosphere”, which aims to cover the prevalent fan theories and pick out important details of each episode in a spoiler free way. We probably won’t consider feedback for season one, as these episodes were all recorded in advance, but we’d love to hear what you think, and what you’re looking forward to with season two!

110 – Marco

Jim and A.Ron sign off of Better Call Saul on our coverage of the finale episode, number 110 entitled “Marco”… We discuss our changing perceptions of Chuck and Hamlin, Jimmy’s Cicero week o’ scams, pinky rings, and parking lot based changes of heart. Along the way, we consider a ton of great feedback, and towards the end, consider Better Call Saul’s place alongside it’s big brother, Breaking Bad. Perhaps a bit premature, but the fact that we can have an interesting conversation at this point is high praise all by itself, no? Thanks for a great first season, we’ve had a blast, and we can’t wait to catch up to Jimmy next year.
