Season Three

The Wire – Omar Comin’ – Commissioned Podcast

Hey there, A.Ron here with a very special commissioned podcast with a unique history and focus.  First, thanks to Andrew Stannard for using Subbable to make this all possible, and for working with us patiently on the format of the podcast.

Andrew wanted us to talk about The Wire.  The problem is, I’ve got massive plans for a Ultimate Badass Criterion Sapphire The Wire Podcast, and I didn’t want to take his money to release an inferior version.  So, we compromised.  We’d record a podcast about his favorite character, Omar Little, and we’d highlight two episodes that showcase a particular facet of the character, all without doing any major spoilers. I selected episode 206, “All Prologue”, and 306, “Homecoming”, to show off Omar at his best, and Omar at one of his lowest points.  Along the way Jim and I gush about The Wire, why we love it, why it can be hard at times to love, why Omar is such an important character for The Wire in general and pop culture at large, and talk about our favorite moments from these two episodes.  I also divulge some details about my upcoming The Wire podcast series, and why it’s taking so damn long.

303 – Badlands

Jim talks about the latest episode of Falling Skies. Are they really fooling anyone with this mole thing? How well did Crazy Lee’s plotline work? What’s the worst thing about tv battles? Camera and mic upgrades. Do they help?

301 & 302

Jim talks about the 2-hour premiere of season 3 of TNT’s apocalyptic alien drama Falling Skies. This is my first piece of video content so the visual and audio quality is terrible, as is the presentation. It will get better, I promise. Hopefully you’re here for the insightful television commentary anyway, not the razzle dazzle.

316 – “Welcome to the Tombs”

It’s finally here.  The moment we’ve all been waiting for.  And it stinks!  Like a fresh walker on a hot summer day, it stinks!  We try to find the words to justify the backlash that this episode has unanimously, and deservedly, received across the internet.

315 – “This Sorrowful Life”

The penultimate episode of Walking Dead’s third season is surprisingly not the war that we, and the survivors, have been prepping for.  But that doesn’t mean it’s not what we wanted…  Meaningful characterizations and some great acting make this another strong episode on the back half of season 3.  But that doesn’t mean it’s perfect…

314 – “Prey” – The Watching Dead

Hey guys, Jim was under the weather this week, so we resorted once again to a remote cast.  This one went much better than last, but we still have a ways to go.  Bear with us this week and we’ll be back to in-studio next week. This week, we discuss “Prey”, episode 314 of The…

313 – “Arrow on the Doorpost”

A.Ron and Jim were… inspired by the events of this episode to do another tribute skit, our most elaborate yet.  If you’re a fan of those, then you’re in for a treat, if not, I suggest skipping about five minutes ahead.  Lots of questions raised in this episode, with not many answers.  We also have…

312 – “Clear”

This was a pretty good episode of The Walking Dead; unfortunately I don’t think our cast quite matches up this week.  First off, some rush hour weather kept Jim and A.Ron from getting together to cast, and we had to hastily assemble a remote recorded cast.  We also had some great skit ideas that we…

311 – “I Ain’t a Judas”

This podcast is about romance this week.  That special time when the moonlight shines just so, playing off your lover’s shapely ass as she makes her way across the darkened bedroom, by your side… AND THEN PRESSES A KNIFE AGAINST YOUR THROAT!!  And then goes back to sleep?  Okay, it’s less romantic and more confusing…

310 – “Home”

In this week’s action packed recap, Jim and A.Ron discuss the merits of batshit crazy Rick, the Ricktatorship’s looming threat of Glennsurrection, the merit’s of the Governor’s tactical battle plan, Daryl’s epic zombie kill by way of Subaru, and the complexities of Glenn and Maggie’s post-abduction relationship.  All this and plenty of your feedback, too!…
